What is a decentralized identifier (DID)?
A decentralized identifier (DID) is an industry standard digital identifier that uniquely identifies an identity (as, for example, a fingerprint does for a person) in a verifiable, decentralized way. This identifier is generated in the form of a string of letters and numbers.
A DID can be used for people, machines, services and anything that identities can be built on.
