How do I link my web3name to my address?
There are two different types of linking, which serve two different purposes:
Linking can be done using w3ndi for sending and receiving funds via a web3name. w3ndi is a decentralized index of digital accounts, built by Apillon. This is currently available in Nova Wallet and supports addresses across Polkadot (including KILT and other parachain address types) and other popular chains, such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polygon and more. See the How-to guide here.
Account addresses can also be linked directly to a DID on the KILT blockchain using account linking. The DID can be linked with multiple addresses across the Polkadot and Ethereum ecosystems and with credentials, service endpoints, and a web3name. Searching the address, DID or web3name on w3n.id then shows all the publicly-linked information, and is especially useful for helping collators or those providing services to be easily identifiable. Note, linking using this method does not allow sending or receiving funds via the web3name. See the How-to guide here.
Note, since anything linked on the blockchain is public and therefore a permanent record, be sure to only link addresses that you want associated with your name.
